Participants will identify key components of psychosis with an emphasis on first episodes of psychosis. Diagnostic criteria for “Brief Psychotic Disorder” will be addressed with differential diagnosis of possible underlying disorders related to substance use, emerging chronic mental illness, mood disorder, and general medical condition. Family involvement guidelines will also be addressed
David W. Schilling, MA, CAADC, LCPC has had extensive experience in the field of drug and alcohol abuse over the past forty years; having worked within hospital-based chemical dependence programs, physical rehabilitation, outpatient substance abuse, MISA partial hospitalization, DUI remedial education/intervention services and employee assistance programs. Mr. Schilling has also served on the adjunct faculty of Chicago State University and Moraine Valley Community College. Currently, he serves as a clinical supervisor with Healthcare Alternative Services, Inc. in Chicago and supervises the Anger Management Program and Domestic Violence Services for offenders.
