“The Crisis of Suicide Among Veterans: Understanding the Role of Substance Use, Combat Stress, Posttraumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, Moral Injury, and Homelessness"
The problem of suicide in the military and among Veterans has been identified as a significant problem among those still serving and those who have served in the US military. This workshop begins by looking at the history of suicide in the military and among Veterans. It will then examine the contributing factors and complications with suicidal behaviors. Finally, it will look at emerging models of prevention, intervention, and treatment.
Joseph E. Troiani, Ph.D., CADC is the founder of Military Psychology at Adler University. He directs the M.A. Psychology with emphasis in Military Psychology (online) program for the Global Campus. Dr. Troiani is the Director of Behavioral Health Programs at the Will County Health Department. Commander Troiani served thirty-two and a half years in the U.S. Naval reserves.
